Slave to Sensation

Welcome to a future where emotion is a crime and powers of the mind clash brutally against those of the heart.

Sascha Duncan is one of the Psy, a psychic race that has cut off its emotions in an effort to prevent murderous insanity. Those who feel are punished by having their brains wiped clean, their personalities and memories destroyed.

Lucas Hunter is a Changeling, a shapeshifter who craves sensation, lives for touch. When their separate worlds collide in the serial murders of Changeling women, Lucas and Sascha must remain bound to their identities…or sacrifice everything for a taste of darkest temptation.

Sensual scene from SWORD OF REGRET!

CAUTION: THE FOLLOWING EXCERPT IS SMOKING HOT!

From SWORD OF REGRET, (c)2006 by H.A. Fowler
Available NOW from Freya's Bower!

"What are you doing?" she whispered, unable to find her voice.

Armand wound his fingers into her long, dark hair and pulled her to him. "Seeking and offering comfort from and to a beautiful woman."

When their lips met this time, lightning struck with a heat and force ten times stronger than the surge of power the first time she touched the Sword of Ma'at. The same clarity ripped through her, along with the pain of remembering her betrayal of this man's progenitor.

Every move he made caused her equal parts pain and pleasure. His hands cupped her breasts with the same pressure, the thumbs circling her nipples in exactly the same way Antonio's once had, that way that could almost make her come all by itself. Each stroke of his rough thumb shot need through her every nerve that made her gasp aloud.

He brought his mouth down to her jaw, then nibbled and licked his way over her jugular with his blunt human teeth. If he was Antonio, come back to seek his long delayed revenge, Lyris was more than ready to die at his hand, so long as he made love to her first.

The hunter devoured her mouth like a starving man, kissing her for what felt like eternity before moving on to suckle and bite her nipples, each tug and nibble setting off its own explosion of pleasure deep inside her. He pressed her hard into the bar with his hips, grinding his impressive erection into her, but bracing her weight from the wood by cupping her ass in his strong hands, pulling her closer. Lyris opened her legs for him, to feel his length against her throbbing sex.

He moaned softly as he trailed his lips down over her ribcage, her belly, and finally dropped to his knees before her, taking a moment to gaze up at her with lust and reverence before urging her legs apart and pressing his face between them.

"Il mio amore, come li desidero..." he murmured into her heating flesh, his tongue darting out to caress that most sensitive part of her.

OTHERWORLD 1st Draft is DONE! And other news!

I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE I'M DONE!

Ladies and gentlemen, the first draft of OTHERWORLD is DONE.

Fifty five THOUSAND words, yo! In a little over two weeks. Yeah, baby! *dances*

I'm taking the night off to slack. Well... mostly. I have a proposal due for a new series I'm working on for Freya's Bower, and I need to flesh out the outline for my holiday story, BETTER NOT CRY, which is due next week.

So... not really taking the night off. *G* Plus, I have 55,000 words to type now.

Announcement: there are no real nights off for a busy writer. Which is the only kind of writer to be.

Coming up:
* Outline Dark Fantasy Seminar I'm giving in January
* Type OTHERWORLD, submit
* Outline IN DARKNESS, WE series for editor (a series of 12 HOT SHORTS! To be published in PRINT next year! *dances*)
* BETTER NOT CRY (Due 8/15)
* Final Edits on THE VEIL
* Plot CITY OF NIGHT from outline & finish character sketches
* Edits for POSITIVE ENCOUNTER (once the contract's signed) - to appear in Chippewa's VAMPROTICA '06 ANTHOLOGY! Whee!
* Start Plotting my Entry for ELLORA'S CAVEMEN '07

I'm tired just typing all of that. And just to think--classes start in less than two weeks, and I have a full courseload this semester: Literary Trends & Movements; Shakespeare; American Lit to the Civil War, Creative Non-Fiction, and Myth and Modern Mythmaking.

Plus a "real" job.

You know what I need? A clone. And/or a personal assistant.

Upcoming Appearence Schedule:
(all times are EST)

  • Fri.-Sun, August 11-13, On and off all day: Evolution Writers' Board Discussion -http://www.evolutionwriters.com/forums/ - Come discuss the art and craft of writing with the writers of Cobblestone Press!

Unless you're Nora Roberts, Stephen King, or a handful of other blockbuster superstars, writers don't make very much money. And we don't have things like paid holidays, vacations, sick leave... or health insurance. When struck with a catastrophic illness, the costs can be devestating. To make things worse, many writers make too much to get government medical assistance, but too little to buy private insurance.

So many climaxes! *Evil Grin*

As far as current and upcoming projects go, that is. ;)

Decent productivity, and even better, I'm getting down to the last of it plotwise! Tomorrow's chapter will be the climax, and then there's only three more after that, barring any weird demands from the story or characters.

I have to say, I've been sort of surprised at the direction OTHERWORLD has gone. It's *much* darker than I originally expected it to be. The horror elements are a great deal stronger than in the original, which makes me happy, since that's what dark fantasy is supposed to be about. I'm a little concerned, though, how it will be received by readers. I mean, it's still a romance at the core, and there's plenty of steamy scenes, but it's very much about Harrigan and his insecurities and fears as a man and as a vampire. It's very bloody, and very violent.

Now, I LOVE that stuff, and I know a lot of my readers do too (*waves to Buffy people*), but what will my publisher think?

I guess we'll see before too much longer!

~

Tentative good news -- it looks like my erotic short vampire story (I say that a lot, don't I? *G*), POSITIVE ENCOUNTER, will be featured in the 2006 VAMPROTICA anthology from Chippewa Publishing! I haven't signed a contract yet, so it's technically not official, but I heard from Chippewa/Lady Aibell's Rebecca Peck, and it looks like this is going to happen! I'm REALLY excited about it. For one thing, I LOVED VAMPROTICA 2005 -- if you haven't checked it out yet, it's DEFINITELY worth a read! Which leads me to the other reason I'm psyched -- it's available in PRINT from like, BOOKSTORES, MAN! *dances*

It's also available in ebook format, for those who prefer it! :)

More details as they become available!

~

Finally, I'm about to embark on the second round of edits for THE VEIL! Almost done, and only three months until the re-release!
